HGV Workshop Manager

The Fleet Workshop Manager will be responsible for the overall running of the workshop, managing the day-to-day operations in order to maintain the highest levels of service. This is a hands-on role which requires strong technical knowledge and communication skills.

Job Description

Duties will include:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including scheduling, prioritising tasks, safety and ensuring timely completion of maintenance and repair jobs.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality standards in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Use knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair to troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical support to the team.
- Ensuring fleet timescale requirements are met and working with other Managers to meet deadlines.
- Monitor performance of the team, providing guidance and support when needed.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve performance.
- Liaise with suppliers and ensure that all parts are ordered and delivered promptly.
- Taking ownership of Parts Stores - Monitoring Stock Levels.
- Ensure the Workshop is clean & ensure Health & Safety requirements are met.
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to workshop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key Skills & experience:
Essential:

- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a workshop with HGV experience.
- Formally trained or qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- A demonstrable understanding of HGV compliance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Friendly & helpful approach to suppliers and colleagues.
- Common sense & ability to operate safely on site.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (6.30am - 5pm); Every other Saturday (7am - 12pm)
